Our Commitment to Privacy

Shroomlens ("we", "us") is an AI mushroom-identification app published by Apurikotto. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have for our iOS application and website. We try to collect as little as possible, and we comply with applicable privacy laws including GDPR and CCPA.

Safety Notice

Shroomlens is an educational and reference tool. AI identification can be wrong — never eat a wild mushroom based on the app. Many edible mushrooms have deadly look-alikes. Always confirm with a qualified mycologist and check with poison control before consuming any wild mushroom.

Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to identify mushrooms and keep your journal:

• Account email: If you sign in, we use your email address to send a one-time login code, or your Apple ID via Sign in with Apple. We do not store passwords.
• Photos you submit: When you identify a mushroom, the photo is sent to our backend and to Google's Gemini AI for analysis, and the processed image is stored so it can appear in your saved finds.
• Your finds: Identifications you save (species, notes, tags, timestamps) are stored in your account so you can revisit them.
• Diagnostics & usage: Aggregate analytics and crash/error reports that help us keep the app stable. These do not identify you personally.

How We Use Information

We use collected information solely to provide and improve the service:

• To identify mushrooms from your photos and show habitat, edibility, and safety information
• To let you sign in and keep a personal journal of your finds
• To operate, secure, and improve the app
• To respond to support requests and meet legal obligations

Service Providers

We share the minimum data needed with providers who process it on our behalf:

• Google Firebase: authentication, database, storage, hosting, analytics, and crash reporting
• Google Gemini API: your mushroom photo is processed to generate the identification
• Apple: Sign in with Apple, if you choose it
• Sentry: error and diagnostic reporting
• We do not sell your personal information

Retention and Your Choices

You stay in control of your data:

• Your finds and account data are kept until you delete them or your account
• You can delete your account from within the app (Profile → account settings), which removes your account data
• To request access or deletion, contact us at hello@apurikotto.app
• You can opt out of optional analytics in app settings

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children's Privacy

Shroomlens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Parents can contact us to review or delete any information relating to their child.

International Data Transfers

If you are located outside the United States, information we collect may be transferred to and processed in the United States and by our service providers. We rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where applicable.

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
